BA To Beijing

I am flying with BA to Beijing today.

Regrettably BA have altered the schedule of their daily Beijing flight. Going out I arrive at 6:00am Beijing time, and returning to London I leave Beijing at 7:20am.

Quite absurd times, why oh why didn't they keep to the old schedule which was far more sensible?

At least I will be back before anymore strikes occur.

The Destruction of The Brand

The ongoing dispute between BA and Unite has, as expected, severely damaged BA's results and brand.

The FT reports that passenger numbers in March fell by 15%, the equivalent to the fall it suffered in the month after the September 11 terrorist attacks.

The fall in numbers is expected to cost BA £45M.

Clearly people will not fly BA if there is a risk that the planes are going to be grounded.

Whoever "wins" this dispute will soon realise that their "victory" is Phyrric. The damage done to the BA brand will push the company to the edge financially, with consequences for services and jobs.
